Lambda Alpha Epsilon

photo of students

Boise State Lambda Alpha Epsilon students took home 10 awards at a recent LAE competition in Ontario, California.

Lambda Alpha Epsilon was first established in 1937 as a fraternity for newly graduated police officers. The Greek words chosen by the first gathering of members represent three primary concepts in criminal justice: lambda (to detect and apprehend);  alpha (to adjudicate); and epsilon (to rehabilitate). Today, Lambda Alpha Epsilon recognizes and involves people interested and pursuing careers in all areas of criminal justice.

Delta Psi Chi is Boise State’s local chapter of Lambda Alpha Epsilon chapter.

WHAT ARE THE ACTIVITIES OF LAE?

Fundraising Activities
Finally, each year LAE participates in fundraising. It takes money to send students to conferences, fund activities, and the like. Each year members of LAE organize a variety of fundraisers. In the past LAE has organized a TNT fireworks stand. Our most popular fundraiser is the Buffalo Wild Wings Eat Wings Raise Funds event.

WHAT ARE THE EXPECTATIONS OF LAE MEMBERS?

Members are expected to actively participate in various events including community service projects, fundraising events, and membership meetings. There are two membership meetings a month. Students are encouraged to attend both, but only one is necessary. Consideration for attending regional and national conference is based upon active participation within the organization. Finally, each member is expected to keep their annual dues up to date. See below.

HOW DO I APPLY?

Membership is open to students who are interested in criminal justice.  There is no GPA requirement.  To join, students must pay an “initial due.”  Returning student members must pay a “renewal due.”  See below
  • Initial due: $40.00
  • Renewal due: $35.00
For new members, please make checks/money orders out to “Boise State University” with LAE written in the memo line. Drop off the money and application off to the Department of Criminal Justice.
