The Emeritus Guild presented the Emeritus Guild Fabric Art Show on April 4, featuring work of retired faculty and staff from Boise State, including our very own emeritus faculty, Dr. Janet Mills.
All of the artists are members of the Emeritus Guild, an organization that honors those who retire with distinction, and their spouses. Two floors of fabric art were on display, including quilts, art quilts, weavings, fabric collages, cyanotype prints, tatting, crochet, cross stitch and embroidery work.
Some of the artists found their passion only after retirement. They include Jackie Fuller, former administrative assistant and featured quilter at the 2012 Boise Basin Quilt Show. One class in quilting sparked enough interest that she has created more than 150 quilts thus far. Likewise, former professor of public policy and administration Janet Mills began creating fabric collages and art quilts only after her retirement.
